Burns School of Medicine, where he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society in recognition of his academic excellence and leadership. His early training includes a transitional year internship at Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he gained broad clinical experience before focusing fully on ophthalmology.

He went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at Georgetown University Hospital and Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC, serving as chief resident during his final year. Dr. Shortell further advanced his subspecialty training with a glaucoma fellowship at the world-renowned Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Today, he brings this extensive background and advanced skill set to his practice, where he continues to provide exceptional care and uphold the highest standards of his profession.
